CARRETILLA, pioneers in innovation

Since its foundation, over 125 years ago, Carretilla's aim has been to bring consumers the best products through their constant desire to improve. The leader in asparagus, Carretilla has always been at the cutting edge in technology, as is shown by its successes:

• Using seeds imported from California, Carretilla sets up the first asparagus plantation in Spain, in San Adrián (Navarre).
• They manufacture the first hand-soldered tin can. This allows them to develop their vegetable preserving activity.
• They produce their own packaging and incorporate German technology for line production, thus increasing output with respect to manual production.
• Carretilla patents a formula to improve the preservation of sweet peppers in wooden containers. 
• Precursor in the application of hydro cooling (fast cooling immediately after picking to avoid the formation of veins) in the production of white asparagus. 
• Carretilla is considered the world's nº 1 asparagus producer (1997). 
• As specialists in asparagus, Carretilla launches new green asparagus products: special for the hot plate, special for egg dishes and sweet and sour. 
• Carretilla designs and patents the ABRE-¡RAS! opening system for its tins. This is the only system that guarantees total safety and maximum convenience.
• Carretilla, as specialists in vegetables, launch a range of new products adapted to new trends in consumer needs and lifestyles: a range of select Salads and more elaborate Fried Tomato. 
• Carretilla diversifies its range and enters the growing refrigerated product sector, launching the first Precooked Fresh Green Vegetable Dishes: ready to heat and enjoy. All of this is thanks to an innovative production process developed internally by the Group's R+D+I team.
